9th International Symposium on Internal Combustion Diagnostics

Review

„Combustion Diagnostics more up-to-date than everever” that was the headline for the well known symposium series, which had it’s beginnings in 1994 in Darmstadt and which is now taking place in Baden-Baden. The International Symposium on Combustion Diagnostics became an well established institution not only in Germany, but also worldwide.

This year the audience, consisting of almost 300 participants experienced a wide range of presentations about various disciplines. Thus, not only simulation, visualization and pressure indicating for the presented research projects have been used, but also interdisciplinary tools and methodologies. The use of neuronal networks and statistical experimental design provides new aspects in the field of combustion diagnostics to the user. So it is not only important to optimize the efficiency of the combustion process, but also the efficiency in development, so as to ensure the reduction of operating costs The traditional pressure indicating, and this was clearly stated again this year, is still the base of the combustion diagnostics and will remain so in the upcoming years.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the speakers for the high-level presentations and the audience for the interesting questions. For the upcoming 10th International Symposium on Combustion Diagnostics, we already would like to invite you now and we’ll hopefully welcome you on this anniversary too.
